ABOUTME

Sam King is an award-winning sports reporter and lifelong Indiana resident with a passion for sports, especially baseball.

 

His work has appeared in numerous publications and websites, notably USA Today, The Indianapolis Star, Louisville Courier-Journal, The Associated Press, MLB.com, NCAA.com and teamusa.org.

 

Sam has covered almost any sport with a ball at all levels from high school to professionally.

 

While attaining his master’s degree in sports journalism from Indiana University, he performed the ultimate balancing act of working as a full-time sports reporter, juggling 28 high schools and Purdue University sports.

 

While working on his bachelor’s degree at Indiana State University, Sam was the sports editor for the student-run Indiana Statesman and a staff writer for the campus magazine iQ while also picking up freelancing gigs as time permitted.

 

He spent 2 ½ years post graduation at the Journal Review in Crawfordsville, Ind., where he briefly left the sports desk to cover city government before realizing his true passion in covering athletics and taking a position on the sports staff of the Journal & Courier in Lafayette, Ind., a Gannett Company publication.

 

While in Crawfordsville, Sam covered a variety of sports at eight area high schools and NCAA Division III Wabash College.

 

Sam has covered multiple Indianapolis 500s, NASCAR races, high school state championships, Big Ten football and basketball and the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

 

His career ambition is to cover professional sports.
